The continuation of urban and outdoor development in the capital reflects the resilience of the Abu Dhabi market as it continues to invest in the development of outdoor landscaping. The landscaping industry in the region is currently estimated to be worth $16.34 billion,
Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, driven by the local government, is driving real estate expansions leading to further increased demand for high standard green and outdoor spaces within the UAE.
Testament to the importance of outside public spaces in the future compilation of the UAE and wider Middle Eastern landscapes, is the re-launch of Gulf Landscaping and projects such as
Najmat Abu Dhabi.
Najmat is just one of the three developments being built on Al Reem Island. Set to be an urban waterside community with the development estimated at US$ 8 billion, it will occupy 16 million square feet, 55% of which will be dedicated to open spaces, public parks, children’s playgrounds and shaded walkways.
Gulf Landscaping is held at the centre of a cash rich market, with an estimated US$1000 billion of projects planned or underway in the Gulf, the UAE alone accounting for a third of this. The value of landscaping within this figure is estimated to be at around 10% of the construction cost.
Exhibiting at Gulf Landscaping will ensure your company capitalises on the wealth of opportunities offered in this region.

As an individual and representative of Cracknell, participating in conferences is always a valuable experience, where many professional relationships are made and ideas exchanged. 2010 is believed to be the tipping point where water consumption will begin to outstrip supply. I will be discussing at the Seminar Theatre at Gulf Landscaping how the UAE's landscapes will adapt and respond to the water availability in the region.

The Emirates Green Building Council is an independent non-profit forum that shapes policies for the built environment and facilitates collaborative solutions to promote sustainable practices in the UAE. Landscaping is an area of high water consumption, the reduction of which is of particular interest to us. We are delighted to support the Gulf Landscaping exhibition which will look at ways in which this issue is being addressed.
